Absalom holds a Master of Laws degree (LL.M) and a Bachelor of Laws degree (LL.B Hons, Second Class-Upper Division) from Makerere University Law School. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice (Dip.LP) from the Law Development Centre, Kampala, Uganda. Absalom Mubangizi has also undertaken specialised training in trial advocacy with the National Institute of Trial Advocacy (NITA) and the International Law Institute (ILI). He joined the firm in 2009 after working at the Uganda Law Reform Commission where he gained experience in law reform, law revision and legislative drafting. Absalom’s area of specialization is taxation law and practice. His LL.M Degree dissertation entitled “Corporate Income Tax and Investment Behaviour in Uganda” focused on the relationship between Uganda’s corporate tax regime and corporate finance decisions and corporate structuring. He is currently enrolled for the Advanced Diploma in International Taxation (ADIT) at the Chartered Institute of Taxation (IOT), UK, with emphasis on International Taxation, Transfer Pricing and a research paper/thesis on taxation within the East African Community (EAC). He has had over ten (10) years of legal practice with the Firm during which he has handled diverse commercial litigation and transaction work and other work undertaken by the Firm. He is a member of the Uganda Law Society (ULS) and East African Law Society (EALS). Absalom was admitted to partnership in July 2019.
